He graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and with a minor in Technology, Arts, and Media. Nathan hopes to enter the world of TV production and Cinematography. He spent a vast majority of his schooling years in Shanghai and has been taking photos and videos of it ever since. Beginning in 2012, Nathan has pursued his love of photography with several projects showcasing his various interests and skills. He started his photography interest when he joined SHSID Times, his school magazine that published an issue every month. After spending about a year taking photos for the magazine he started purchasing photography magazines to find new ideas. His interest for photography further grew when he learned of Light Painting techniques. Focusing on the natural contrasts of the world around him, he is able to capture subject matter from the urban landscape of Shanghai to the wonders of the automotive industry.
Branching out beyond photography, his passion to create has spread to cinematography after he was introduced to Peter Mckinnon’s YouTube channel. Since 2017, Nathan started using his camera to make little films any time he went to travel. He liked to tell inspiring stories of his life and the world around him. One of his films, Dream On, was nominated for best cinematography at the Bright Ideas Film Festival. As he got more and more films under his belt, his style changed and he started to enjoy shooting documentaries. In the summer of 2022, Nathan graduated from Chapman University with a degree in Film Production emphasizing in Cinematography. He currently resides in Southern California trying to pursue a life in film. During his time here, he has been involved in hundreds of hours of film sets.
